FIERCE ELISE STUDIO GALLERY

Selected works from my current practice. This unfinished series contains themes of human connection, disconnection, and the associated emotional/psychological states.

Take a look and think...where do the contrast of colours, lines, and shapes take you emotionally?

The Unsettled Self Series

2025

These paintings explore identity during a period of psychological change. Chaotic Night and Dark Mirror are the first works I painted after a 7 year hiatus. I've written about the unsettled self story in my studio journal. You can read the story here

we've all had one.
was yours a positive or negative experience? and why?

Dark Mirror

which hidden part of yourself do you see reflected back at you?

About my Practice

After many years away from painting, in early 2026 I committed to building my practice from scratch.

I'm a London based abstract artist, and am driven by my insatiable curiosity of life and human behaviour. I like to think that my paintings invite people to think.

I create through what I call my Fierce Painting process. My paintings begin instinctively. I don't plan compositions in advance, I start with colour, and allow the direction of the painting to emerge.

My work draws on themes of what it means to be human — how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

I write about my return to painting, the story behind my work, my creative process, life reflections, and evolving ideas in my online journal elise studio: laid bare

The painting in the portrait photo is Dark Mirror, part of the unsettled self series documented in my journal.
